Youth Volunteer Opportunities at FISH:
The South Valley FISH Food Pantry is looking for youth volunteers to help at our distributions on Thursday afternoons from 3:45-5:45pm. We currently have about 2-3 spots open each week and ideally, are looking for volunteers who can commit to serving once a month (e.g. one would volunteer every 1st Thursday of the month). FISH is located on the St Timothy's Lutheran Church campus, near 85 and Camden Ave. For more information about FISH, please see our website at www.svfish.org
Opportunity To Serve American Foundation for Suicide Prevention- Oct. 22
Event: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Community Walk
Date: Saturday, October 22, 2022
Location: Arena Green West, San Jose
Shifts are as follows:
Duties:
· 6am to 9am: Set up the event site
· 8:30am to 12pm: Assist with registration, food, beverage (all pre-packaged items) and route support (direct walkers)
· 12pm to 2pm: Assist with clean up
Expectations/policies:
· Any student that is under 18 years of age MUST have an adult present.
· The adult does not have to help, they are welcome to bring a book and read or sit and observe the action.
· It is important students keep their cell phones put away, we really need them to be attentive, working, compassionate and sensitive to those who have experienced a loss by suicide.
This will be a good experience for students who are passionate about mental health issues
