Math for Business Applications

Math for Business Applications is designed for students who are seeking an applied math course that emphasizes application to business, economics, and social and behavioral sciences. This course is ideal for students who have completed Algebra II, and will be majoring in Business.

Mathematics for Business Applications is an applied math course that introduces students to business mathematics and personal finance. The course relies on a solid understanding of algebraic operations and linear and exponential models. Students will learn the mathematics that informs business decisions, such as interpreting tables and charts, linear equations and algebraic expressions, fractions, decimals and percentages, and exponential equations. Students will also explore the complex reality that businesses are made up of humans and explore the balance between numbers and people in making important business decisions. Special topics include time-value-of-money functions for investing and financial management, and functions for inventory management, marketing models, hiring decisions and revenue model decisions.

This course is an excellent preparation for students who intend to major in Business, as well as for students’ future careers and personal money management.
