Valley Christian High School Community Service Update for 2nd Semester

We believe that Jesus calls us to love our neighbor as ourselves.  We are so excited that many of our students have taken this call to heart and participate in community service in these difficult times. We changed our community service requirements during the 1st semester and promised that we would reevaluate for the second semester.

Here are the changes we made for first semester:

  • Community service requirements will be reduced to 15 hours from 25 hours for 2020-2021.
  • Community service will not be included in the grading for Bible Classes in the Fall but might be included in the Spring. (We will evaluate the current situation in November)
  • Community Service Church hours will not be mandatory for 2020-2021.
Per our November re-evaluation, here is our updated policy:

  • Community service will not be included in the grading for Bible Classes during 2nd Semester.
  • VCHS students will still be encouraged to serve in our community since service remains a measure for many colleges and universities of a well-rounded student. Both virtual and in-person opportunities are posted weekly on our Christian Service page.
  • Students who continue to serve this year will be given the option of rolling 15 of those hours into the 25-hour requirement for 2021-2022 year. That would mean that they would only have an additional 10 hours of mandatory service requirements for next year.
