Unit #5: 5.1: Ratios and 5.2:Rates
Unit Learning Outcomes
- Students will be able to understand the concept of a ratio.
- Students will be able to use ratios tables to find equivalent ratios.
- Students will be able to understand the concepts of rate and unit rates.
- Students will be able to write percent’s as fractions with denominators of 100.
- Students will be able to find the percent’s of two numbers.
- Students will be able to find the whole given the part and the percent.
Unit Biblical Integration Goals

Unit Standards
- CCCSS: Ratio Percent’s: 6. RP. 1, 6. RP. 3a, 6.RP 2, 6. RP.3b, 6. RP 3c, and 6. RP. 3d.
Objectives
- Students will be able to understand the concepts of a ratio
- Students will be able to use ratios to describe the relationship between two quantities.
- Students will be able to solve real-life problems.
Classroom Activities
- Devotional/Prayer
- Differentiated instruction: partner work with understanding units.
- Students will be given an introduction into Ratios
- Students will partake in a pre-assessment activity by completing “What You Learned Before” in bigideasmath.com.
- Students will be taught how to turn in their homework through Bigideasmath.com.
- Students will begin an opening activity by finding how to represent a relation between two objects.
- Students will answer the essential question: "How can you represent a relationship between two quantities?”
- Students will partake in an interactive lecture on Ch.5.1 and 5.2
- Students will do examples 1-3 with the teacher form page 192-193 and 199-201.
- If time allows, students will start their homework.
Homework
- Complete: Ch. 5.1: pages 194-195: #2, #8-18 Even and Ch. 5.2: pages 201-202 #9-19 Odd. Due 1/10/19 for A days and 1/11/19 for B days.
- All Chapter 5 ALEKS topics are to be completed by 11:59pm on 2/1/19 for both A and B days. Two topics are to be completed nightly.
