Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus (AB)

Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus is designed to challenge students who have completed Algebra II.  This course helps students gain comprehension of and proficiency in high-level foundational concepts.  Students can move onto Mathematics of Financial Analysis, Calculus Honors, Statistics Honors or AP Calculus AB after this course.

This one-year course covers all major topics in trigonometry and pre-calculus using the techniques that students have previously learned from their study of algebra and geometry; trigonometry includes basic properties of trigonometric functions, various angle notations, trigonometric identities, and Laws of Sines and Cosines. The pre-calculus portion reviews and extends various topics and concepts learned in Algebra II.

The course prepares students for the study of calculus and strengthens their conceptual understanding of problems and mathematical reasoning in solving problems.  This is especially important for students intending to study calculus, statistics, or business math in college.

In addition to the above, the course (0825A) is designed for students preparing for future enrollment in AP Calculus AB.  Therefore, the pace is faster and the content is wider and deeper.

Special Note: A TI-84+ graphing calculator is required.
