Entrepreneurship Practicum (H)
In this hands-on course, students have the unique opportunity to dive into the world of small business management and put theory into practice, i.e. “Learn by Doing.” Walley’s student store is a real-world classroom where students gain practical experience operating and managing every aspect of the business. Students actively participate across four business units - inventory and operations, finance and analytics, sales and marketing and human resources - bringing their innovative ideas to life as the course continues to grow and expand into new business areas.

Students develop essential skills in store operations, inventory control, purchasing cycles, financial reporting, marketing communication, event planning, visual merchandising, employee performance and wellness, product design, project management, sales and business development, product marketing, customer service, student leadership, cross-business teamwork, and more. This course challenges students to engage in critical thinking, creativity, and practical problem-solving. Through collaboration and effective communication, students gain the tools and confidence to thrive in real-world business environments, making this course an essential foundation for future success in any professional field.

  • Enrollment space is limited in this course. 
  • This is a DECA approved class.
  • Application required with a possible interview. 
  • Practicum work requirement (class participation/homework): 
    1. One work shift (80 minutes) weekly, after-school, all year
    2. Two pop-up events (3-4 hours average) per semester, on a Friday or Saturday.
