Department Overview
DESCRIPTION OF EXCELLENCE
The Physical Education department promotes lifelong discipline and a healthy lifestyle. While training in diverse sports, athletes learn to exhibit Christian character under the pressure of competition. A central goal of the Human Performance Initiative is to design and implement customized performance plans for each student-athlete in accordance with his/her individual goals and dreams.
DISTINCTIVE EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Warriors regularly compete with distinction among the top programs locally and in the state of California, including a State Championship in girls’ volleyball along with Central Coast Section titles in golf, baseball and football. The emerging Human Performance Initiative is a unique and flexible way to allow students to dream big dreams, pursue athletic passion, reach fitness goals, discover potential careers in athletic fields, and benefit from exciting leadership opportunities.
Lifetime Fitness
The goal of this course is to promote physically active behavior and a healthy lifestyle so students will remain physically active and aware of their daily choices years after they graduate. Lifetime Fitness is a required course for all freshman.
Health and wellness education explores topics related to nutrition, stress management, disease prevention, substance abuse, and healthy relationships. The physical component of the course exposes students to a variety of sports and teaches skills necessary to achieve and improve cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscle endurance, body composition, and flexibility. Football Performance
This course provides student-athletes with comprehensive training designed to maximize performance and long-term development. Instruction integrates two core components—strength and conditioning in the weight room and on-field movement training—to build well-rounded, game-ready athletes.
Students progress through four targeted training phases:
In-Season Maintenance – Emphasis on recovery and technique refinement to stay healthy and effective throughout the season.
Strength Phase – Develop foundational full-body strength to support explosive movement and reduce injury risk.
Power Phase – Convert strength into dynamic, game-ready power through advanced lifting and plyometric work.
Fast-Twitch Phase – Enhance speed, agility, and reaction time for peak on-field performance.
Together, these components ensure each student-athlete is continually challenged and supported in reaching their highest potential in football.
