DESCRIPTION OF EXCELLENCE

Students cultivate their God-given creative talents through involvement in theoretical and practical aspects of theatre arts. Training explores a variety of performance methods, design techniques, and industry standards for the creation of theatre while facilitating regular application of Christian values to artistic expression.

DISTINCTIVE EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Our progressive Theatre Arts training program is one of the finest in the country. In 2022, our production of The Addams Family garnered a Best Overall Production nomination at the Rita Moreno Awards/California Musical Theatre Honors Program, as well as a Best Actress nomination. Our 2024 production of Into the Woods (pictured above) was nominated for Best Overall Production, as well as Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. In the Fall of 2024, our production of Clue: On Stage broke box office records. Diverse curriculum and a state-of-the-art theatre facility provide students with hands-on experience in all aspects of theatre production, including performance, stage management, scenic design, costuming, properties, lighting, sound, and production management. Graduates of the Theatre program at VCHS have gone on to schools such as NYU Tisch, Point Park University, Chapman University, Loyola Marymount University, University of Michigan, Marymount Manhattan College, Pace University, UCLA, UCSD, and more.
