Trip Information: Child Development Nepal - here
Valley Christian students will join the team of locals who
serves 750 children in ten Learning Centers in remote Nepal villages. We will visit multiple village learning
centers in the Himalayan mountains. Child Development Nepal currently has six Learning Centers, all in the district of Dahding.
Learning Centers - Child Development Nepal is not a
humanitarian organization that meets only the physical needs of the child. We
also provide for the educational, emotional and spiritual needs of the children
in our Learning Centers. Six days per week children receive a healthy
nutritious meal, help with their studies, instruction and practice on good
hygiene, and spiritual discipleship from a caring team of local Christians that
includes teachers, cooks and helpers. We provide clean filtered water and vault
toilets for the children to use. Both are rare in remote Himalayan villages.
Why Nepal?
Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world, with
more than a third of the population living in poverty. Most people live in
remote villages with limited access to farmable land and clean drinking water.
There isn’t much of a health care system in remote Nepal.
Many children die before they are five years old and those that survive often
suffer from malnutrition and diarrhea.
The education system, with its mediocre teachers, lack of
buildings, materials, and personnel, is very deficient. Many children leave
school before their eleventh birthday.
Child labor is rampant, especially for girls who are valued
less in their families. Many end up being trafficked or in underaged marriages
that they want no part of.
Please help us help the children of Nepal.
Child Development is committed to Transforming
Communities:
Experience has shown that if we can reach the children, a
transformative work will begin in the community. Families get to see firsthand
the amazing change that is happening in their children. We literally are
changing Nepal one child at a time. This is the same ministry we work with in
Liberia.
Trip focus includes:
- We will
spend time at local village centers in the Himalayan mountains
- Activities
and outreach within the local community
- Intentional
community relationship building
