• MISSION STATEMENT

In partnership with committed parent(s)/guardian(s) and missionaries across the world, our purpose is to create a Christ-centered program that provides students the opportunity to serve within a broad spectrum of intercultural experiences. This global perspective will allow them to develop their unique gifts and abilities while being transformed spiritually, relationally, and with a selfless heart so they may be servant learners. We pray students obtain a passion to seek and share the Kingdom as followers of Jesus.

Prayer: I hope God changes our sense of identity, our understanding of how we fit in our community and world, and how we live out our calling to love the people of this world just as Jesus has loved us.

Goals: Love well: Learning, Relationships, Encouragement, Long-term Engagement and transformation.

    SERVICE PHILOSOPHY

We recognize that Jesus is already in the city. Our job is to help our students discover God’s handprint and presence in the city and its people.

We don’t come with the answers but enter with a posture of learning. We do this best by asking questions. Our human tendency is to want to make things right. Sometimes we may try to fix what isn’t broken and in the process cause shame or cycles of dependence.

Jesus desires transformation, not change. God brings transformation in our minds, hearts, and lives. Rather than just changing circumstances (which are often symptoms of deeper realities), we long to see how God is working on root issues. Transformation takes more time but is more holistic. How can we help students to partner with God’s transformative work in themselves and in communities?

    LEADERSHIP

Marcus Martinez serves as the Campus Wide Pastor at
Valley Christian School, where his passion is helping
students encounter the love of Christ and take part
in growing His Kingdom. A proud Valley alum, Marcus
launched the school’s Missions Program in 2012,
planting seeds of service, faith, and global impact. After
    years in full-time ministry—including leading a local
church as head pastor—he returned to Valley in 2022
with a renewed vision. His heart for students, combined
with a bold faith in what God can do through them, fuels
his mission to expand and elevate the spiritual life on
campus. Marcus believes the next generation will be the
ones to bring lasting change, both locally and globally,
and he’s committed to walking alongside them every step
    of the way.
