      Welcome to Kidservatory TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS!

      Dear Kidservatory Parent/Guardians,

      Welcome to TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS with Valley Christian Kidservatory! We are looking forward to a wonderful semester with your students. Please read this email carefully for some important information about our show.

      • FIRST AND FOREMOST please bookmark our show page so you can quickly reference it for all of our show information: www.tinyurl.com/vcestheatre. This page will contain important details and helps to simplify our communication - you won’t want to miss out.

      • Tomorrow September 1st, is our first day of rehearsal. While every student will have a role, your student will be “auditioning” for specific parts on Tuesday. They should come prepared to sing 30 seconds to 1 minute of a favorite song “a capella” - that is, without any backtrack/karaoke or accompaniment. It can be as simple as “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”, or any other song they love to sing. Encourage them to prepare and have fun with it!

      • Pickup time is 5pm each Tuesday & Thursday. Students will be escorted to Extended Care after that time.

      • Additional fee: As was stated on the description of this enrichment activity when you registered, each student pays an additional fee to help cover their costume and any special hair/makeup costs we might have for them. This $50 will be billed to your FACTS account this semester as a “Participation Fee”; we want to be sure there is no confusion for you about this as it is separate from their registration fee for the program itself. Don’t forget, your student gets to keep their costume after the show!

      Finally, please mark your calendar now for our show week, when your students get to rehearse and perform on the Skyway campus: December 1, 2, 3, and 4. These are mandatory rehearsals and performances as we put all the pieces together for a great show.

      TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS: First Week and Upcoming Cast List

      Hello families! 

      It has been an exciting first week of singing, reading through lines, and getting acquainted with your awesome students! We sang through the opening song yesterday, and they are sounding amazing already- it makes me excited that this is going to be a fun show! 

      Some of the students have asked me about "main " parts; I explained that there aren't really main parts in this show. This is more of a team or group effort of supporting each other and making it a great show. 

      We will have one more read-through, audition day, on Tuesday, September 8th, and we will send out the cast list next Wednesday, September 9th. I know your kids are anxious to find out their parts, but I want to make sure that everyone gets a good opportunity to read for characters. We will have our first read-through of the show on September 10th. 

      I am looking forward to this theatre season with your amazing people!

      **IMPORTANT!**

      Please crack open your script as soon as possible and start learning your lines and songs at home next week. Your “off-book” deadline* - NOVEMBER 12TH - will be here before you know it! We have made your music available on our Learn@VCS page as well - click “Practice Tracks” to see a version with guide vocals, and a version with music alone.

      *We use the term “off-book” when you have your lines and songs mostly memorized and begin rehearsing without a script in your hand.

      TWAS THE WEEK AFTER CHRISTMAS Costume Measurements 

      Rehearsals are in full swing, and we are excited to get our show on its feet. Ask your student to show you what they’ve worked on today! 

      Even though performances are three months away, we are already working on costumes. We want your student to look their best and are asking that you please complete the Costume Measurement Form this weekend.

      It is posted under the “Costumes” tab on our show page HERE. It should only take you about 5-10 minutes to complete. Please complete the form by next Monday September 14th, 2026.

       

      Reminder: by the end of the school day, everyone needs a tasty, healthy, and hearty SNACK. Please be sure you are packing a little something extra for your child so that they have enough energy and brain power to get through our rehearsals.
