Opportunity To Serve at Palo Alto Art Center- Summer Opportunities 2026
The PAACF has ability to support provide volunteer hours (details below). I don’t believe we have any student volunteers who attend VCS.
If students are interested in volunteering during the summer, we have teen Counselors in Training (CITs) who assist in our summer camps. (our interns are college students and are paid and work the entire summer).
CITs sign up for a week of volunteering in a morning or afternoon camp. The program is extremely popular so we are only able to offer 1 shift per teen. It adds up to about 16-20 hours of service. The camps are ½ day and there is an option to volunteer for an extra hour during the lunch break to help manage the campers.
Registration opens on Feb 5 for Palo Alto residents and on Feb 12 for everyone here: https://ca-paloalto.civicrec.com/CA/palo-alto-ca/catalog?filter=c2VhcmNoPTMzMTQxMDg=
Older teens who have experience working with kids may be interested in being a Lead CIT: https://ca-paloalto.civicrec.com/CA/palo-alto-ca/catalog?filter=c2VhcmNoPTMzMTQxMDk=
During the registration process the teen will indicate the weeks that they are available, and then Iwill schedule them on a first-come, first serve basis based on their availability.

Ongoing-VCHS Non-Profit Service with Breakthrough Tutoring (Both in person and Online)
Volunteer Opportunities:
Due to a high demand of tutoring throughout the school year for STEM and social studies, we are actively seeking and recruiting tutors such as high school students, current college students, individuals who have professional careers or simply are interested in tutoring highly motivated future first-gen college students who attend under-resourced schools in San Jose.
That being said, we are currently looking for tutors for the Spring semester. Students can apply HERE. Once I receive their application I will follow up with them with additional information and required documents. Additionally, we will be having two mandatory training sessions hosted by Elevate Tutor Training that I feel is another opportunity for professional growth for students.
Next steps:
Once the application has been submitted you will receive an email from BTSV with Orientation Material. A signed copy of the BTSV Tutor and Confidentiality Agreement form is necessary in order to move forward with the process. The agreement form will be provided in the Orientation Material.
Please allow a few days for the application to be processed. If you have any questions reach us at: tutoring@breakthroughsv.org or text/call Tutoring Coordinator at 408.337.9725.
