Ongoing-VCHS Non-Profit Service with Breakthrough Tutoring (Both in person and Online)
Volunteer Opportunities:
Due to a high demand of tutoring throughout the school year for STEM and social studies, we are actively seeking and recruiting tutors such as high school students, current college students, individuals who have professional careers or simply are interested in tutoring highly motivated future first-gen college students who attend under-resourced schools in San Jose.
That being said, we are currently looking for tutors for the Spring semester. Students can apply HERE. Once I receive their application I will follow up with them with additional information and required documents. Additionally, we will be having two mandatory training sessions hosted by Elevate Tutor Training that I feel is another opportunity for professional growth for students.
Next steps:
Once the application has been submitted you will receive an email from BTSV with Orientation Material. A signed copy of the BTSV Tutor and Confidentiality Agreement form is necessary in order to move forward with the process. The agreement form will be provided in the Orientation Material.
Please allow a few days for the application to be processed. If you have any questions reach us at: tutoring@breakthroughsv.org or text/call Tutoring Coordinator at 408.337.9725.

Ongoing- Opportunity To Serve- Church Hours- Venture Church
Venture Church- Opportunities to serve at Venture Church in Children's classrooms
Lisa at VentureYes, we do have new opportunities for students to serve at Venture, especially in our kids' classrooms. Currently, we only have enough volunteers to open the 9:30 am service, but are hoping to open the 11:15 am service soon.
In our preschool classrooms (Toddlers through Pre-K) we are looking for ~4 students per service.
In elementary, (K-5th grade), we need ~12 students per service.
In addition, we have a program called X-2 (which stands for "2nd experience") dedicated to elementary kids whose parents serve one/attend one. This class is fun, has a short Bible lesson, and an emphasis on serving and leadership. We are looking for 4-6 upper-classmen to help run that class.
Lastly, we are kicking off our mid-week discipleship program for elementary kids on Wednesday evenings in September (6-7:30 pm). That is called KidVenture. For specific needs, please have them reach out to Megan Fryling (megan@venture.cc).
If anyone is interested, please have them apply here: https://rock.venture.cc/SelectOrientation?OpportunityId=42
**It's important and helpful if they can specify which area they are interested in when filling out the application -

Ongoing- Opportunity To Serve: Hope Hearted
Hope Hearted is a non-profit organized by four high school students focused on helping Bay Area food banks and shelters provide basic medical supplies to the unhoused and low-income populations. At Hope Hearted, we recognize that the barriers in access to basic supplies within struggling populations have been greatly exacerbated by the pandemic. We aim to bridge that gap by creating COVID-19 supply kits for unhoused and low-income populations in the Bay Area. In 2 months, we have raised over $3,000; 100% of the proceeds will be used to fund supply kits for unhoused/low-income people in the Bay Area. Our website <http://www.hopeheartedvolunteers.org/> allows community members to donate and/or sign up to distribute kits at local food banks and shelters. If needed, we also sign off-service hours.
For more information, please contact our email at hopeheartedvolunteers@gmail.com or Quynh Nguyen, the CFO, through her personal email quynhng2@gmail.com or mobile number (669)-350-4431.
