  • Are you ready to ROOOOOOOOOOCK???? 🤘🎸👩‍🎤

     

    Below is everything you need for our upcoming ROCK OF AGES audition! You will all be singing one of the two songs (medleys) in the Drive folder. There is no need to prepare a separate song.


    What are we looking for?

     

    We are looking for not only correct notes and characterization, but importantly, a great grasp of the *style*. We suggest you find the original recordings of each of these songs to hear how the OGs sang them. Listen for style, diction, color, and overall sound.

     

    You will choose and prepare ONE of the following:


      • Medley #1 - GIRLS
      • Medley #2 - GUYS

    Each song is a medley - a mashup of two songs to make one long one. Please choose     one to learn in its entirety. If you are unsure which medley to prepare, please email Mrs. Kaelin with any questions.


    In the Audition Materials folder linked below you will find three sub-folders:

    1. Backtracks
      • Backtrack only - this is the one you will use in your actual audition.
      • Backtrack + melody - you will hear both the accompaniment and the melody line.
      • Melody only - you will hear only the melody line.
        • The last two (backtrack+melody and melody only) are for practice purposes only. The first one (backtrack only) is for your audition. Once you learn the medley, definitely practice with the backtrack by itself (no melody line).
    2. Music Samples
      • This has recordings of the songs for you, sung by random people (not the original artists).
    3. Sheet Music
      • If you read music, this will be another help. If you don't, that's okay! Just make sure you learn the words correctly!
